Content Rules

By using MacGuffin, you agree not to upload content that contains any of the following:

Libel or defamation
Copyright or other intellectual property infringement
Racism, homophobia or discrimination against disabled people
Religious hatred (as opposed to criticism of religion)
Incitement to commit any crime (including violence)
Incitement to self-harm
Any instruction, recipe or formula likely to cause harm if followed
Pornographic depictions of people under 18
Violation of privacy, e.g. a story that includes any personally identifying or confidential information, including real names of living people.

Indemnification

You agree that you are responsible for the content you self-publish on MacGuffin and assume all risks associated with it, including anyone else’s reliance on its accuracy, or claims relating to intellectual property, defamation, libel, obscenity, and all other legally objectionable material, and expressly indemnify MacGuffin against any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, consequential or exemplary damages, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, personal injury, property, bodily, moral or material damage of any nature whatsoever, or damages for copyright infringement, defamation, libel, obscenity, or any intangible losses.

By self-publishing your content, you represent that you own or have the necessary rights to post the content on MacGuffin, and that doing so doesn’t conflict with any other licenses you’ve granted.

Analytics data

By self-publishing on MacGuffin, you understand and agree that analytics data about that content will be publicly available for other MacGuffin users to view.

Copyright

The copyright of all content (including but not limited to fiction, poetry, non-fiction, essays, articles, plays, audio recordings, audio plays, music and podcasts) self-published on MacGuffin shall remain with the author, or in the case where that work is legitimately published on MacGuffin under a Creative Commons license (i.e. when publication under that Creative Commons license does not breach any existing copyright), it shall be Copyright according to the terms of that Creative Commons license.

Breach of Content Rules

MacGuffin doesn’t moderate content prior to self-publication, but it retains the right (though not the obligation) to remove any content published on MacGuffin in breach of these Content Rules. Users who post content that breaches these Content Rules may also either be warned or have their accounts closed, at the sole discretion of MacGuffin.

Reporting Content

To report a story or a tag, go to the story in question, access the drop-down menu, click 'Report Story' and fill in the form.
If you're reporting a breach of copyright, please be aware that for us to act on it, we'll need the following information:


Identification of the original copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
Identification of the material on MacGuffin that you claim is infringing copyright, and sufficient information to permit us to locate that material.
Your contact information, such as your name, address, email address and telephone number.
A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner.
A statement that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
A statement that, under penalty of perjury, the information you have provided in the notification is accurate.

Use of Content

By self-publishing on MacGuffin, you give us permission to store, display, reproduce and distribute your content, which may include sharing your content with partner companies, services, news agencies and funding bodies, for the purpose of promoting MacGuffin and reporting to our funders.
